Central Anatolia Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant Commences Operations Under SOCAR Türkiye
The Central Anatolia Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant, located in Kırıkkale and recently acquired by SOCAR Türkiye from GAMA Energy, has commenced operations under SOCAR Türkiye.
The sale and purchase process for the Central Anatolia Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant in Kırıkkale was completed with the signing of a sales agreement between SOCAR Türkiye, Türkiye's largest direct foreign investor and integrated industrial group, and GAMA Energy.
The Central Anatolia Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant, with a production capacity of 870 MW, began operations under SOCAR Türkiye as of February 2. The power plant is one of Türkiye’s strategic energy centers and is important in terms of electricity supply security. With this acquisition, SOCAR Türkiye strengthens its existing energy supply and trading activities and completes the Gas-to-Power value chain; it significantly increases portfolio flexibility and market resilience by supporting electricity trading with its own production capabilities. It thus resolutely pursues its goal of creating an integrated, sustainable, and competitive value chain through its production activities.
With this investment, SOCAR Türkiye demonstrates a strong reflection of the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the energy sector. While continuing its activities that contribute to the economies, employment, and social development of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, SOCAR Türkiye aims to continue its strategic investments that contribute to Türkiye’s energy supply security and sustainable development goals as a reflection of its long-term confidence in Türkiye.
