SOCAR Türkiye and ITU "Sustainability Certificate Program" collaboration
The first term of the Sustainability Certificate Program, launched by SOCAR Türkiye in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University (ITU), has been completed.
SOCAR Türkiye, Türkiye's largest direct foreign investor and an integrated industrial group, has formed a significant collaboration with Istanbul Technical University (ITU) to help develop the new competencies required by the accelerating transformation process in the energy sector. Certificates were presented to participants who successfully completed the program coordinated by ITU's Continuing Education Center by SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov and ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.

Commenting on the Sustainability Certificate Program, SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov underlined SOCAR Türkiye's role in the energy transition, stating: "The energy sector is undergoing a multidimensional transformation driven by sustainability goals, technological developments, and changing global needs. We believe that one of the most important factors in the success of this transformation is a qualified workforce that understands and can manage change. With the Sustainability Certificate Program we launched with ITU, we aimed to bring together academic knowledge with industry experience to develop professionals' competencies for the needs of the future. We congratulate all our participants who successfully completed the program and earned their certificates, and we believe they will make valuable contributions to the sustainability transformation with the knowledge and experience they have gained.

Energy sector and academia on the same platform
Alongside academic sessions led by ITU faculty members, the program also included industry sessions featuring contributions from SOCAR Türkiye executives and sector professionals. This gave participants the opportunity to evaluate current academic approaches alongside industry practices. While the program itself was conducted online, its opening and closing panels were held in person.
Contributing to expertise in sustainability
Designed for mid- and senior-level professionals with 4–10 years of experience, the program consisted of 9 modules covering areas such as energy transition, carbon management, green finance, reporting standards, and sustainability governance. Participants who successfully completed the training and assessment process earned a certificate of achievement jointly signed by SOCAR Türkiye and Istanbul Technical University.

"Port Revenue Accounts" book launched following the certificate ceremony
Following the certificate ceremony, the launch of the book "Port Revenue Accounts," authored by SOCAR Terminal CFO Kutlu Vardar and SOCAR Terminal Account Receivable Manager Mehmet Dağduran, also took place. Prepared with contributions from faculty members of Istanbul Technical University's Faculty of Maritime, the work aims to serve as a guiding reference resource for all stakeholders involved in port processes. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the book covers real-world practices encountered in the field, common mistakes, and risks that need to be managed, offering a fresh perspective on the port and maritime sector through both an academic and practical lens.
