SOCAR Türkiye and Turkcell achieve a first in the energy sector
SOCAR Türkiye and Turkcell have entered into an important cooperative endeavor, signing their names to a “first” in the energy sector. As part of the customized project, Turkcell will build a private mobile communications network for SOCAR Türkiye in the Aliağa Peninsula. SOCAR Türkiye’s vision of information technologies is now combining with Turkcell’s powerful and unique technological infrastructure to produce a productive, flexible, measurable infrastructure based on the latest technology.
SOCAR Türkiye, Türkiye’s largest industrial holdings corporation, and Turkcell have undertaken a major pioneering cooperative project in the energy sector. Within the partnership, Turkcell will be building base stations in the Aliağa, Izmir Peninsula exclusively to service SOCAR Türkiye’s information technology infrastructure, creating a Private LTE network. The Aliağa Peninsula is an area in which SOCAR Türkiye’s major affiliates such as the STAR Refinery and Petkim are located. This area stands out as being Türkiye’s first “Private Industrial Zone.”
As one of the three operators in the world to use LTE technology to make the highest speed available to users, Turkcell has expanded its fiber infrastructure and increased the number of its base stations. By strengthening its mobile network, it will be preparing the Aliağa Peninsula for the technologies of the future.
“We are preparing SOCAR Türkiye and Aliağa for Turkcell technologies and 5G”
Hakan Irgıt, SOCAR Türkiye Digital Transformation and Information Technologies President, remarked that the company regarded digital transformation a dynamic process that was in continuous flux, commenting, “We are bringing to life applications that will enable us to make a quick assessment of both ideas and technologies and create projects based on the data of real-life scenarios.”
Regarding the collaboration, Hakan Irgıt continued to say, “As Türkiye’s largest industrial holdings company, SOCAR Türkiye is working to achieve some “firsts.” Our goal is to be a trailblazer in digital transformation in our sector. This is why we are very excited today to announce that this collaboration will be a “first” for the sector. This project, which we have developed in line with SOCAR Türkiye’s vision for digital transformation and strategic planning, will prepare SOCAR Türkiye and Aliağa for the age of 5G. This is a very important step in our journey toward digital transformation.”
“SOCAR Türkiye will be furnished with a customized private infrastructure”
Hakan Irgıt continued: “We have put a lot of energy into this project–from developing the kernel of the idea to the application. Turkcell technology will provide SOCAR Türkiye with a customized and private infrastructure that will function as a network of security, communication, and productivity, operating on a single end-to-end digital system. Digitalization, based on our Industry 4.0, sustainability and mobility strategies, will be supported by technologies that will offer solutions for cyber security, connection diversity, business continuity and other areas. We thank all our colleagues who have worked so hard on this project.”
“We’ve developed tailor-made solutions from a 360-degree viewpoint”
Speaking on the collaboration, Turkcell Vice President in charge of Corporate Sales Ceyhun Özata said, “Since SOCAR Türkiye will be operating in the 1453-hectare peninsula in areas of business such as refinery operations, petrochemicals and harbor management, the company therefore needed a tailor-made digitalization solution for each of its units. Our Turkcell Digital Business Services company joined in partnership with SOCAR Türkiye right from the start on this journey to establish end-to-end digital transformation with reliable technologies. We developed the entire project from a 360-degree viewpoint, offering solutions to ensure layers of cyber security and business continuity, based on a powerful and unique network infrastructure. We are happy that our approach was instrumental in strengthening the ties between these two major corporations on this long journey that we have embarked upon together.”
“We, together with SOCAR Türkiye, will be bringing to life this project as an exemplary endeavor in the energy sector”
Ceyhun Özata continued to say, “SOCAR Türkiye’s infrastructure will ultimately enable the company to digitalize all its operations in the Aliağa Peninsula based on the Private LTE technology provided by our unique network. We designed this infrastructure in collaboration with the SOCAR Türkiye Information Technologies team in preparation for the technologies of today and the future. The infrastructure will benefit from Turkcell’s currently powerful technological infrastructure and wide frequency spectrum in providing flexibility and measurability. We believe that this infrastructure will be an exemplary model for the energy sector in its ability to cover all open fields, minimize transmission delays and support the Internet of Things.”
