SOCAR Türkiye and Pegasus Take a Strategic Cooperation Step in Sustainable Aviation Fuel
SOCAR Türkiye and Pegasus Airlines have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The agreement between the parties establishes an important foundation for supporting sustainability-driven transformation in the energy and aviation sectors.
Under the agreement signed between SOCAR Türkiye and Pegasus Airlines, the two organizations aim to work together on identifying SAF-related needs in Türkiye, conducting feasibility studies for the development of the SAF value chain, implementing business development and awareness activities, and evaluating cooperation opportunities related to sustainable aviation fuels in Türkiye and other geographies.
SOCAR Türkiye, Türkiye's largest integrated industrial group, is carrying out work focused on innovation and new energy solutions in the areas of SAF production, supply chain, and technological partnerships, while Pegasus Airlines, an airline operating on a global scale, aims to contribute to the process by determining market needs for SAF usage and through its knowledge and experience regarding the effective use of SAF in the aviation fuel value chain.
SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov, emphasizing that sustainability is one of SOCAR Türkiye’s strategic priorities, stated:

Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk, in her remarks, drew attention to the importance of using sustainable fuels in the aviation sector and stated:
The future of aviation can only be shaped with confidence when sustainable solutions are pursued with determination. As Pegasus, we have long supported this transformation through our young fleet, our operational efficiency programs, and our medium- and long-term carbon emission reduction strategy. Since 2022, we have been using SAF in increasing volumes and across a wider geography. This agreement we have signed with SOCAR Türkiye will allow us to further deepen our expertise in sustainable aviation fuels while contributing to the development of the SAF ecosystem in Türkiye. We see this cooperation as a strategic step toward both better understanding the sector’s needs and uncovering new opportunities for the clean aviation of the future.
Under the agreement, the parties aim to evaluate preparations for the production and use of sustainable aviation fuels through a joint working group that will include senior executives, with the goal of contributing to reducing the aviation sector’s carbon footprint and to the development of a sustainable aviation ecosystem in Türkiye.
