
SOCAR President Rövşan Najaf and his Delegation Visit Türkiye
Rövşan Najaf, the president of SOCAR, the Azerbaijani State Petroleum Company and an accompanying delegation held a series of meetings during their visit to Türkiye on December 20-21, 2022.
The delegation started off their visit in Ankara by paying their respects to Atatürk at a monument commemorating the Great Leader in the park named after the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Haydar Aliyev.
Following the commemoration, the meeting of the SOCAR Türkiye Board of Directors convened. The results of 2022 were discussed at the meeting, together with plans for 2023.
At the Board meeting of the Trans Anatolia Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), one of the important links in the Southern Gas Corridor carrying Azerbaijan gas into Türkiye and Europe, presentations were made about TANAP’s activities this year, goals for the future, and the work to be carried out were reviewed.
Also during the visit, the SOCAR President met with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez. The talks emphasized friendly and brotherly relations between our two countries and the satisfaction that was mutually felt about this high-level strategic partnership. It was also stressed that relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan were successfully progressing in all areas, including the energy sector. Ideas were exchanged about expanding the operations of SOCAR in Turkey and regarding various matters that carry bilateral importance.
The SOCAR delegation also met on December 21, 2022 with Melih Han Bilgin, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO). Cooperation between SOCAR and TPAO was discussed at the meeting, as well as opportunities for existing and potential collaboration.
