As part of Baku Energy Week, SOCAR Türkiye took part in the 30th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition (COG), showcasing its sustainability strategies through a “Zero Carbon” themed booth focused on its investments in Türkiye.
SOCAR Türkiye — the country’s largest direct international investor and leading integrated industrial group — participated in the region’s largest energy event, the Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition, held from June 2–4 at the Baku Expo Center. Hosted under the main sponsorship of SOCAR, this year’s event marked the 30th edition of the exhibition, organized as part of Baku Energy Week.
At its booth, SOCAR Türkiye highlighted the sustainability-driven innovations of its group companies, including Petkim, STAR Refinery, TANAP, SOCAR Terminal, SOCAR Storage, SOCAR Trade, and Petkim Wind Power Plant (Petkim RES), which together represent over USD 18.6 billion in investments in Türkiye. Visitors were informed about the company’s net zero carbon goals, green energy initiatives, biotechnology and chemical recycling practices, and the contributions of SOCAR R&D to its sustainability roadmap.
A “Zero Carbon” Booth That Offsets Emissions
In addition to its content, SOCAR Türkiye’s booth stood out for its sustainable design. As in previous years, the company participated with a booth that maintained net zero carbon emissions. All emissions generated throughout the event — including logistics and travel-related emissions — were calculated and offset through certified carbon offsetting projects, with the aim of minimizing environmental impact.
“We are leading the sustainable transformation of the energy sector through digitalization and R&D.”
Commenting on the event, SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov emphasized the global significance of the strategic energy partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, stating: “As SOCAR Türkiye and our group companies, we are proud to be a symbol of the enduring friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. At the 30th Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition, we presented our 'Triple Transformation' approach, which encompasses energy, digital, and social transformation. At SOCAR Türkiye, we shape our investments with a focus on sustainability, and we are leading the energy sector’s transformation through our competencies in digitalization and R&D. We are proud to contribute to Türkiye’s vision of becoming a regional energy hub.”
Panel Participation at the Baku Energy Forum: “The Power of Digitalization in Energy”
In parallel with the exhibition, the Baku Energy Forum will take place on June 3–4, focusing on the future of the energy sector. In honor of the exhibition’s 30th anniversary, the forum will feature an expanded agenda covering topics such as innovation, sustainability, green energy, and infrastructure systems. SOCAR Türkiye CEO Elchin Ibadov will be a featured speaker on June 4 at the panel titled “Digitalization in the Energy Sector: The Power of Data and Technology.”
