SOCAR Türkiye is celebrating the second anniversary of November 8, Azerbaijan’s Karabakh Victory, with a commercial advertising film commemorating the freedom from occupation of Shusha, Azerbaijan’s cultural capital.
Türkiye’s largest industrial holdings corporation, SOCAR Türkiye, is carrying the story of Azerbaijan’s repossession of Karabakh and East Zangezur after approximately 30 years of occupation into a commercial film. Inspired by the words of Azerbaijan’s national leader Haydar Aliyev, who said, “Karabagh could not exit without Shusha, and Azerbaijan could not exist without Karabagh,” the commercial film is set in Azerbaijan’s cultural capital Shusha.
The repossession of a culture
Shusha was declared the “2023 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” by the International Organization of Turkic Culture; the theme of the film is the story of Shusha’s freedom from occupation. Boasting of many historical monuments, Shusha is the birthplace of many outstanding scientists and distinguished figures in culture and the arts; Azerbaijan is known as the cradle of music. The film emphasizes that it was not only the city of Shusha that was freed from occupation but also the common values of folklore, art and culture. Displaying outstanding cinematography and an original conceptualization, the film refers to the history of victories won by Azerbaijan and Türkiye, bringing the ideal of “One peoples, two states” to the foreground.
