Smart Building Systems
As Internet of Things (IoT) technologies continue to evolve, there has been a surge in innovations within the realm of smart building systems. These systems have facilitated the interconnectivity of electronic devices within buildings, enabling remote control. This capacity plays a pivotal role in minimizing energy inefficiencies. For instance, in the scenario of activating the 'away' mode, it becomes possible to disconnect power supply to devices or even automate the shutdown of inactive electronic devices.

Beyond the capability of remote device management, another factor that enhances energy efficiency is devices' capacity to self-adjust. In this regard, AI-powered smart thermostats come to mind. These intelligent thermostats utilize specialized modeling to assess the occupancy levels of buildings, allowing them to ascertain heating and cooling needs accurately. Consequently, they possess substantial potential for generating significant energy savings.

Solar Panel Illuminations
Solar lighting systems possess the capacity to transform solar energy into electricity, storing it within their batteries. Subsequently, they utilize this stored energy to offer illumination during periods of darkness. By harnessing renewable energy sources, these systems prove remarkably adept at cost reduction and the curbing of electricity usage. Their utility extends to various applications, including enhancing garden landscapes, illuminating streets and pathways, and serving security lighting needs.

Sustainable Insulation Materials
Innovative insulation systems incorporate materials such as recycled paper-derived cellulose, repurposed cotton from worn denim jeans, or fibers sourced from sheep's wool. These materials play a role in creating sustainable insulation solutions. Furthermore, these products have the capacity to notably improve thermal performance by reducing air leakage. Consequently, this presents the potential to decrease heating and cooling needs within structures, thereby optimizing energy efficiency to its utmost potential.

Geothermal Heat Pumps
When contrasted with the changing temperatures experienced between seasons, the heat present beneath the Earth's surface maintains a relatively stable level. This characteristic transforms the upper layer of soil into an exceptionally useful asset for fulfilling heating and cooling requirements. Geothermal heat pumps utilize the energy from water circulated through underground pipes to effectively contribute to the heating and cooling systems of structures. Additionally, they exhibit notably superior efficiency when compared to conventional air pumps. As the costs of energy persistently rise in the present era, the increasing significance of geothermal heat pumps becomes an unavoidable reality.

Artificial Intelligence-supported Energy Management Systems
Energy management systems aid enterprises in enhancing their energy efficiency by tracking the energy consumption of industrial equipment. Notably, AI-driven energy management platforms have been increasingly standing out recently. These platforms offer real-time data analysis and possess the capacity to generate remarkably precise forecasts for energy generation and usage. Furthermore, they can predict optimal time periods for harnessing renewable energy sources, such as wind speed and weather data analysis, to achieve maximum efficiency.

SOCAR Türkiye is actively advancing the energy transition, making substantial progress by capitalizing on our pioneering role within the industry. Our endeavors are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly (Goal 9) which focuses on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, as well as (Goal 12) which pertains to Responsible Production and Consumption. Through these aligned efforts, we are taking a leadership position in the realm of energy efficiency-promoting innovations. In this context, several of the projects we have successfully initiated encompass:

Circular TwAIn stands as a groundbreaking initiative led by SOCAR Türkiye's Research and Development division, receiving funding from the European Union and focusing on digital applications. Under the project's umbrella, we're in the process of creating a digital solution that harnesses artificial intelligence to realize noteworthy energy conservation within chemical manufacturing plants. With active endeavors taking place at the Petkim Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol Plant, the project's objective is to curtail the carbon impact of production procedures while concurrently pursuing the utmost levels of energy efficiency.

In a similar vein, CARMOF stands as an additional endeavor undertaken by SOCAR Türkiye's Research and Development, financially supported by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Grant Program. The primary goal of this project revolves around the effective capture of carbon dioxide emissions from exhaust gases into the atmosphere, achieved through the utilization of pioneering materials and techniques, with a keen emphasis on energy and cost efficiency. We are delighted to declare the triumphant conclusion of this project in September 2022.

In brief, cutting-edge technologies are crucial in boosting energy efficiency within the industrial sector. Within this framework, there's a swift progression of research, development, and innovation endeavors aimed at improving insulation and climate control systems, particularly in burgeoning areas like artificial intelligence. It's imperative to acknowledge the necessity for increased innovation to ensure energy supply security and a sustainable future outlook. Our commitment involves sustained involvement in groundbreaking projects that bring value and seamless integration of essential innovations into our supply chain.
