State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic SOCAR and Galatasaray Sports Club have signed the sponsorship agreement that will last for 3 years starting from the 2023-2024 season. According to the agreement, the SOCAR logo will appear on the chest of the jersey that Galatasaray will wear during their European matches.
SOCAR acknowledged as Türkiye's largest foreign direct investor, has forged a sponsorship deal spanning 3 years with Galatasaray, who emerged as champions of the 2022-2023 Spor Toto Super League. The official signing ceremony was held at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex, attended by key figures such as Elchin Ibadov, the acting CEO of SOCAR Türkiye, Dursun Özbek, President of Galatasaray Sports Club, executives from both entities, as well as football players Kerem Aktürkoğlu, Yunus Akgün, and Lucas Torreira.
Under the terms of the agreement, SOCAR has taken on the roles of 'European Cup Jersey Chest Sponsor and Energy Sponsor' for Galatasaray. Throughout the 2023-2024 season, in all the UEFA matches such as Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League, Galatasaray Football Team will display the SOCAR logo on its jerseys.
Expressing his sentiments, SOCAR Türkiye's acting CEO, Elchin Ibadov, stated, “Starting this season, we have established a partnership with Galatasaray, one of the well-established clubs in Türkiye, and our representative on the European stage. SOCAR's flame will serve to empower Galatasaray during its European encounters, allowing our team to firmly maintain Türkiye's pride in Europe. I hope that accord ushers in new triumphs and achievements, culminating in numerous achievements.”
Dursun Özbek, the President of Galatasaray Sports Club, stated, 'SOCAR is a world-renowned brand of our fraternal country Azerbaijan and a highly significant energy company. Having SOCAR by our side as we pursue ambitious goals in Europe holds immense value for us. I extend my thanks to SOCAR for this agreement. The partnership between Türkiye's two major brands, Galatasaray and SOCAR, will provide significant benefits to both sides, and I believe it marks the first step towards a long-lasting collaboration. I consider it especially meaningful that this significant partnership falls in the year 2023, which also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Heydar Aliyev.'
